Pork Chops

Meeting with Karen this afternoon inspired me so much that I thought I’d cook something festive. Notice, Jack, that I’m using your favorite kind of peppers.

Where were the photos taken?

Okay- Charles and I were at Freemason Abbey- Norfolk for the platonic shrimp newourg over pasta. Truly good she-crab soup.

Then we went to Margie’s and Ray’s on Sandbridge Road- for our “not to be missed” she-crab soup and great seafood. If you haven’t been there, Margie’s and Ray’s is a local “bait shop” that has turned into a roll up your sleeves seafood. Our traveling companion- the one with the telephone and the camera- always gets crab-stuffed shrimp. You can order family style.

Home at last

Nice to see that Susan posted. I look forward to hearing all about her trip. We enjoyed a good evening at the Opry in Nashville, and the next day I walked my campus at Vanderbilt in downtown Nashville. Memories from 50 years ago. Floods of memories. Also stopped in Memphis and walked Beale Street afte having a great lunch at BB Kings Blues Bar at the corner of 2nd and Beale. For those of you looking for near-perfect catfish fillets on good bread, eat at BB’s. Also, the Creole-style gumbo was excellent. Hot, though. Expect to sweat. Good music, BTW.

Tully’s is a great little coffee chain in the Seattle area. This one was just a block or so downhill from our hotel. We found it a couple of years ago when we were in town.
